Hi, my name is Ravi.
Here is a photo of me with my wife and two children. You may have met us briefly on the Home page or read a bit about me in the About page.
Ravi's family
The video here is me donating chickens to locals. You can see some more videos I made at the bottom of this page.
Below is a bit more about me and my involvement in this charity.
Do please also check out the About page of this website.
My involvement with the charity started in August 2007, initially keeping accounts, teaching the children English and also special coaching for those who were lagging in their reading and writing skills. I also did some shopping for the children.
After a while Kumar made me the overall manager of the work in India and the work moved to Marteru. I employed a house mother, a cook, a cleaning and washer woman and a man to do food shopping. At this time we had 50 children, the capacity of the accommodation then.
We had to move again as the owner of the property in Marteru died and the new owner put up the rent by 75%. We now have a place for 20 children and in the last 30 months we have also got involved in feeding some of the local poor. Please check out videos at the top and bottom of this page.
Over the years, children who were industrious have gone on to college for degree courses in arts, science, commerce and nursing. So far (2023) far 3 boys and 5 girls have got college degrees and 2 boys and 5 girls have got married.
The charity supported my wife to do a degree course in art and drama, which she has successfully completed. I have also been to learning how to implement the new Government regulations of NGO organisations in India. So we work as a team to run this work.
In addition to working with the children, I have been involved in arranging health camps during which blood pressure and blood sugar levels are checked and an ophthalmologist came to check peoples vision and eyes. People with cataracts were operated on and their sight restored, many people including children under my care got reading glasses.
We recently have taken a plot of land on a temporary lease to grow organic vegetables and fruits. This is doing well and you can see more photos on my Facebook site.
Sadly my wife Apparanjani lost her father recently, but this helped her qualify for a subsidised small plot of land. This charity bought the land for her and have built a place with the foundation being laid to take up to 2 further floors. The first floor has been completed and our family have moved in. The idea is also house the children and have a prayer hall. You can see some photos of the building work in 2023 below and on the About page.
Below is a brief summary of the children's homes the charity has run:-
New Life in Andhra Pradesh - 2002 to 2008, maximum 100 children
New life in Hunsur, Karnataka - 2005 to 2009, maximum 20 children
New life in West Godhavari - 2008 to 2021, maximum 50 children - Run by Ravi
New Life in Marteru - 2021 to present, 20 children - Run by Ravi
Moving forward, the charity wants to:-
With a good honest group of dedicated staff, we are now well placed to expand the work of this charity, training the girls in tailoring, and teaching some good skills to the boys.
After years of dedicated input the charity is now, by the grace of God, bearing fruit. Your prayers are appreciated and please visit our Donate page if you feel you can support this work financially. Thanks.
